JA Solar DeepBlue 3.0 Modules Power JSW Energy 225MW Solar Plant in India

JSW Energy’s 225MW solar plant in Karnataka, India, equipped with JA Solar DeepBlue 3.0 modules, has recently been put into operation. The plant is part of a wider flexible solar panel project, supported by a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with JSW Steel. Both JSW Energy and JSW Steel belong to JSW Group, a major Indian conglomerate with businesses spanning steel, energy, infrastructure, paints and cement. By adopting low-carbon emission technology such as photovoltaics, JSW Group is actively contributing to India’s clean energy transition.
India, rich in solar irradiance and highly suitable for PV solar energy development, has consistently ranked among the top ten photovoltaic markets worldwide. As a leading energy company within the JSW Group renewable energy portfolio, JSW Energy is targeting a 50% reduction in its carbon footprint by 2030 by increasing the share of green energy in its generation mix. Power produced by JA Solar DeepBlue 3.0 modules at the Karnataka solar project will directly support these decarbonization and growth ambitions.
JSW Energy aims to expand its total generation capacity to around 20 GW (approximately 85% renewable) by 2030, up from its current portfolio of about 7 GW (55% renewable). Large-scale PV projects and high-efficiency JA Solar modules in India are expected to play an important role in helping the company meet these targets.
JA Solar has been deeply engaged in the India photovoltaic market for many years and has achieved strong performance. In 2021, JA Solar’s market share in India reached around 17%. With Indian solar imports growing by more than 200% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2022, JA Solar’s shipments to the country remain on a significant upward trajectory, further reinforcing its position as a key technology provider for India’s clean energy journey.
