2017 Marine Equipment Trade Show – Bright Solar’s First Step into Marine Solar

Exhibition 130

2017 Marine Equipment Trade Show

The 2017 Marine Equipment Trade Show was one of the first times Bright Solar brought its products into the marine market in a more focused way. Before that, most of our work was on RVs, rooftops and general off-grid projects. At this show, we started to shape our own line of marine solar panel solutions and to understand what boat and yacht users really care about.

At the exhibition, our team presented several early designs of marine solar panels and semi flexible solar panels that could be used as solar panels for boats. They were mainly installed on demo boards, together with simple controllers and battery setups, so visitors could get a clear idea of how a small yacht solar system works in daily use.

Many people who stopped by our booth were interested in how to keep batteries charged when the engine is off, how to reduce the running time of generators, and how solar could help on long trips. We had a lot of basic but very practical conversations: panel placement on narrow decks, shading from masts, wiring routes, and how to protect cables and connectors in harsh marine environments.

Because it was our early stage in marine off grid power, we spent more time listening than talking. Feedback from boat owners, installers and distributors helped us see where our marine solar panel solutions needed improvement – lighter weight, better anti-corrosion design, and more flexible size options for different hulls and cabins.

Looking back, the 2017 Marine Equipment Trade Show was not our biggest booth or our most complete product line, but it was an important starting point. It pushed Bright Solar to continue refining its marine solar panels and semi flexible solar panels, turning experience from land-based projects into something that also works reliably at sea.
