Cities with balcony photovoltaic subsidies in Germany (1)
We have listed the funding schemes for balcony PV systems from all over Germany that we are aware of – but we cannot guarantee that the list is complete.
2.1 Berlin: 500 euro subsidy for tenants
Berlin supports tenants in purchasing plug-in solar systems for a fixed price of 500 euros. At most these costs can be covered if the investment costs are low. One mini solar system per apartment is eligible. An application can only be submitted if you are a tenant of a Berlin apartment yourself - and must be submitted before purchasing the system. The funding program launches on February 10, 2023, with funding available for 14,000 apartments. If you would also like to benefit, please contact us.
2.2 Aachen: If you buy a plug-in solar system between 150 and 600 watts, the city will pay a fixed fee of 200 euros. You must apply before purchasing your system.
2.3 Bonn: Effective April 1, 2023, plug-in solar equipment on house and garage roofs will no longer receive funding for new applications. However, mini solar systems will continue to receive subsidies if they are installed or installed on balconies, facades, terraces or gardens. You can apply for the following subsidies: 600 EUR per kWp output for tenants (i.e. up to 360 EUR for a system with 600 W feed power and up to 60% of the acquisition cost), 600 EUR per kWp output for Bonn ID card holders 800 euros (i.e. up to 480 euros for a system with a feed-in power of 600 watts and up to 90% of the acquisition cost), and the owner of a house or apartment receives 300 euros per kWp output (i.e. a maximum of 480 euros for a system with a feed-in power of 600 watts) system, up to €180, up to 30% of the acquisition cost).
2.4 Braunschweig: Funding program has been temporarily suspended (until May 2023). The city offers subsidies of up to €400 for plug-in photovoltaic systems with an output between 250 and 600 watts. As a tenant, you need your landlord's consent. When connecting the system, the regulations of the grid operator must be observed.
2.5 Darmstadt: The funding amount is fixed at €200 for one solar module (300W) and €400 for two solar modules (600W) of a micro photovoltaic system. However, for balcony systems with power outputs up to 600 watts, the city covers up to 50 percent of the acquisition cost.
2.6 Düsseldorf: In its “Climate-Friendly Living and Working in Düsseldorf” programme, Düsseldorf supports plug-in photovoltaic systems with an output of up to 600W at 50% of the acquisition cost, up to a maximum of €600.
2.7 Erlangen: Subsidy for the purchase of balcony photovoltaic systems is €50 per 100 watts of power, up to a maximum of €300.
2.8 Erlangen-Höchstadt: There are several municipalities in the region that promote the purchase of micro-PV systems in different ways. Applicable guidance needs to be consulted.
